2010 was a transition year. Most businesses returned to making healthy profits while governments started to come to terms with historic overspending realities. Though 2011 will undoubtedly continue to generate economic aftershocks, we will see more concrete decisions about the changes needed to structure the post-recession world.

Gartner presents four action areas for CIO resolutions in 2011 that reveal important but less-obvious actions to raise enterprise and personal performance from good to excellent. These resolutions will help leaders think about the new opportunities and challenges that are developing as economies, markets and communities rebuild, renew and retrench.
